🎒 Finds: overview

Items are found in ruins (searching and digging deeper), mountain caches, expeditions, from the antiquities trader and in rare events; tools are forged in the smithy, weapons in the armory. Items are equipped on settlers or installed in a building as a module.

Rarity

RarityPropertiesShare of finds
Common—≈ 70.6%
Magic1–2≈ 22.2%
Rare3–4≈ 7.1%
Legendary4–5≈ 0.2%
Ancient relic4–5doesn’t drop by itself: ≈ 1 in 20 legendaries from the best finds

This is the share in an ordinary find. In rich places (deep ruins, ancient structures, the trader) rare and legendary items drop more often, but common and blue ones are still more numerous.

Ancient relics are the fifth, highest rarity.

A legendary item also has its own legendary power. Some items belong to sets.

What to do with items

  • Equip: in the inventory — “who to give it to”, with a hint about who gains the most.
  • Salvage for shard dust (rare and above — sometimes for an arcane core); you can turn on auto-salvage of junk. Items forged in the smithy and armory give four times less dust (common ones — nothing) and a core no more than once in 5 days; auto-salvage doesn’t touch them, and the trader pays half. The smithy and armory forge while there are fewer free items than the target — nothing extra piles up.
  • The inventory has two views. “☰ By task”: items are sorted by what to do with them — “⬆ Better than equipped” (the “→ name” button gives it right away), “Equipped”, “Free”, “In the museum”, “🗑 Useless”. “▦ All items”: a grid of icons with filters; on an icon a letter means who wears it, ⬆ — better than what someone wears, 🗑 — nobody needs it, ☠ — cursed, 🔒 — locked. The item card is on the right (on a phone — a sheet from below): the main button and “⋯ More” (reforge, upgrade, lock, museum, salvage).
  • Salvage several at once: in the inventory, “☑ Select” — tick items, and at the bottom you see how much dust and how many cores you’ll get. The “🗑 Useless” section is everything extra: every settler keeps one best replacement per slot (and every building per module), the rest goes to salvage. Legendaries, relics and museum items never get there.
  • 🔒 Lock an item — it won’t be salvaged one by one, in bulk or by auto-salvage, and won’t be sold, until you remove the lock.
  • Auto-salvage (“♻ Junk…” in the inventory): common, common and magic — or “🗑 Useless”, the same as the inventory button: once an hour everything that isn’t better than what anyone wears is salvaged (up to rare). You can choose which items to salvage: only boots, only modules and so on.
  • Reforge properties and upgrade the item level for dust.
  • Sell to the antiquities trader for gold.
